Core Storage & Core Analysis
Core Handling and Preservation
One of the most crucial steps in obtaining reliable core analysis. The objective is to obtain rock that is representative of the formation while minimizing physical and chemical alteration during coring and handling as well as to maintain the proper sequence and core orientation. Core preservation is an attempt to maintain core, in the same condition that existed when it was removed from the core barrel.
Includes:
Gamma Ray Logging
Critical step towards ensuring positive depth correlation
Core Imaging
Using tomographic method to evaluate core heterogeneity and fluid distribution
Sampling
To provide a statistically valid data
Cutting, Trimming and Mounting
Maintain sample integrity especially critical for unconsolidated or fractured rocks
Cleaning and Drying
To minimize disturbance of temperature and fluid sensitive mineral
Preservation
Minimize sample alteration and disturbance
